Amberleigh is a tree-lined community of nearly 500 town homes in Northern Virginia. It is located in Southern Fairfax County area of Alexandria / Kingstowne, just South of the Capital Beltway circling Washington, DC. The community has easy access to Interstates I-95, I-395, I-495 and the Fairfax County Parkway, as well a ten-minute walk to Washington's Metrorail System, and the Virginia Railway Express, providing an easy commute to the Washington area's major employment centers. Although convenient to town, Amberleigh is nestled back in a wooded area, giving the community a small town feel.

Amberleigh is an ideal location to live for professionals in the big city as well as families with small children. The area is a quite and comfortable setting to relax after a hard days work as well as a great park filled place to raise children. While the area is very beautiful and the community conveniently located, Amberleigh's biggest asset is the people who live here. Our friendly residents make Amberleigh a wonderful place to live simply by taking pride in their community. Thank you to the resident volunteers, who make up the Association Board of Directors and all of its standing committees.

Amberleigh has many families and children living here. We have many activities and events throughout the year to further bring our community together. Some events include the Community Picnic, the Easter Egg Hunt, and our Halloween Costume Parade.

As my husband and I drove through Amberleigh one sunny and warm fall morning, trying to decide whether or not to put an offer on a townhouse, we were struck by the number of children playing. That was it; we knew this was where we wanted to live. Eighteen months later, after returning from Bolivia with our newly adopted daughter, I began to see how really special Amberleigh was.

While renting in Amberleigh, we have learned to appreciate all it's friendly people and wonderful amenities. After deciding to buy a home and looking around in other neighborhoods, we've concluded that Amberleigh already has everything we're looking for.

WHY DO WE LIKE AMBERLEIGH? -- GREEN SPACES!

My family and I love Amberleigh for a lot of reasons. However, what first attracted us, and what we continue to enjoy, is the amount of undeveloped space throughout our community, be it village greens, mature trees, or the surrounding forests. Our entire community was laid out very well this way.

This recently struck me again as my son and I were helping out in the annual neighborhood spring clean-up. As we went around the borders of our development to pick up stray litter from the wintertime, I couldn't help but notice the vastness of the woods. That is something you just can't find in the newest townhouse neighborhoods, where developers are too busy plowing down every last tree and shrub to make room for more homes and parking spaces. In contrast, we can look out our back windows and see a whole expanse of forest spreading out behind us. We love to see the deer and rabbits, and to hear the many tree frogs and birds chirping away in the spring and summer evenings.

Amberleigh has paved walking trails connecting us with the Metro and our neighboring communities, and numerous informal paths through the surrounding woods. It is a wonderful place for people who like to stroll through the neighborhood and the woods. And it presents many great opportunities to greet friends and neighbors on those long summer evenings!
