Fire Lanes to be Painted – Park in Parking Stalls Only
On the complaint of a resident to the county, the fire marshal inspected our community’s streets and designated fire lanes. As a result of that inspection, the fire marshal has sent the association a notice of areas of our community the fire marshal has deemed noncompliant.
Maintaining a safe community is paramount to all of us. As soon as the community received notice, we immediately engaged with the county to find a workable solution.
As a result of these ongoing discussions, our community will be painting fire lanes on streets as required in the notice we’ve received. This painting must be completed prior to the end of 2015. The association has contracted with R.L. Hughes & Sons to power wash and paint the designated curbs. The work is expected to begin during the week of November 9, 2015 and last several weeks.
To facilitate this work, all vehicles must only park in parking stalls. A noncompliant vehicle will be subject to towing without further notice and at the owner’s expense.
In addition to painting the fire lanes, our community is also being required by the fire marshal to install additional signage. We are currently in discussions with the county on the appearance, location, and frequency of the signage that will be required.
Fully complying with this mandate is estimated to cost approximately $30,000. This unplanned expense will be funded from the replacement reserve fund in order to complete.
