Crestleigh Storm Water Project
Fairfax County has identified a substantial erosion problem occurring at a county managed storm water collection and drainage area in our community. The affected area is between Crestleigh Way and Birchleigh Way, adjacent to the storage lot and behind the homes that back to the wooded common area.
The County has proposed a remediation plan to correct the erosion by installing a series of cascading collection pools. The pools will be a combination of stone work and site grading. All costs associated with this project are paid for by the County – no Amberleigh funds will be expended. This project is being managed by the county and not the association.
In order to accommodate the necessary equipment and provide access to the work area, approximately 22 trees of varying size will be removed (those trees have been flagged with tape). A reforestation plan of 16 overstory, 16 understory, 32 shrubs, and 140 live stakes (ground cover) will replenish the affected area.
Please refer to the design and reforestation plan (see project files above) for details. Also provided is a general work schedule, this project is planned to take approximately 30 -35 days depending upon the weather. Initial tree clearing may begin as early as Friday, July 31st with subsequent work phases to follow.
The work staging area will consist of four parking spaces in the storage lot and a portion of the wooded area itself. Equipment will remain on site throughout the project. Workdays are scheduled from 7 am to 4 pm, during the work week. Equipment will not be started or operated until 8 am.
Please stay clear of the marked areas during this project and thank you for your patience while this corrective measure is implemented.
