Our neighborhood committees always need your ideas and participation. You hear that all the time. But do you know what our committees do? Here's a committee-by-committee snapshot. If you would like to join any of these committees, please contact Armstrong Management at armstrong@amberleigh.org or get in touch with one of the AHOA Board Members.
This committee ensures compliance with the rules governing architectural review and use of common grounds. A great way to get some exercise and meet your neighbors - it takes only a few hours each month to walk around checking for burnt out bulbs, homes in need of repair, downed fences, etc.
Develops the community newsletter, provides monthly articles for the Beulah Corridor, prepares material for the Amberleigh web site and drafts promotional material about community events. This Committee also administers the Annual Holiday Decorating Contest at the direction of the AHOA Board. Do you like the challenge of creative writing? Want to help residents learn what's happening in our community? Then this is the team for you.
This committee reviews county land use and transportation projects. The committee also hears cases for proposed development within Lee District that require an exception to current zoning.
Our team of "green thumbs" reviews trees, landscaping, tot lots and other common area landscaping and provides recommendations to the AHOA Board. The Landscaping Committee also ensures that the front entrance is maintained.
The active participation of our residents is the key element in continued community safety, and it's one of the easiest and most cost effective ways to defend against vandalism and other violations. The next time you're walking your dog, jogging or just enjoying a nice stroll through the community, just take a look around you. If you see something strange or out of sync, call the non-emergency number of the Fairfax County Police, jump on the web and notify the AHOA Board and/or give Armstrong Management a call.
Working with the Communications Committee, our resident techies update communications, issues, neighborhood documents and helpful information on the Amberleigh web site.
If you like to meet people, this is the committee for you! The smiling faces of our Welcome Committee members greet new Amberleigh residents, provide "welcome" packets and answer general questions about living in our community.
